A Hidden Gem: My Unplanned Adventure at Bamboo Restaurant

Sometimes, the best plans are the ones you don’t plan. That’s exactly how my friend and I found ourselves at Bamboo Restaurant last Saturday. She just wanted to go out but had no idea where, so we did a quick search and set off on an adventure.

Our first stop? Completely packed—there wasn’t even parking available! The second place? Only open on Sundays. Just when we were about to give up, we found Bamboo Restaurant. And let me tell you, it was the best choice we could have made!

First Impressions

Bamboo is surrounded by charming little stores, including an art gallery and plant shops, which added to its inviting atmosphere. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles and a lovely, laid-back setting. The outdoor seating area featured big umbrellas, wooden benches, and lush greenery. The best part? You could see the sky while eating, making it feel open and refreshing.

Fast Service & Great Food

By this point, I was absolutely starving, and thankfully, the service was quick. Our waiter, David, was incredibly friendly and attentive. While he may not be the best at taking pictures (haha!), his excellent service made up for it.

I ordered a smoked haddock wrap with a fresh green salad, while my friend had the same but opted for crispy potato chips instead. The food was delicious—fresh, flavorful, and exactly what we needed.

A Relaxing Place to Enjoy a Meal

One of the things I loved most about Bamboo was the relaxed and peaceful vibe. The tables were spaced far apart, providing a sense of privacy and comfort. It’s also a great place for families with kids, making it a welcoming space for everyone. Everything was clean, well-maintained, and simply inviting. It’s the kind of place where you can sit back, enjoy your meal, and forget about the outside world for a little while.

Final Thoughts

Our spontaneous outing led us to a hidden gem, and I couldn’t be happier about it. The food was great, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was just perfect. I will definitely be going back—maybe for round two, three, or even more!

If you ever find yourself in Kraainfontein and need a cozy, welcoming place to eat, I highly recommend Bamboo Restaurant. It’s one of those places that makes you feel right at home, and trust me, you won’t regret visiting!
